Good question! I have frequently 'initiated conversation' with the purser if things did not go as promised regarding ULTI. The reactions were mayfold:
- system on iPad not showing one was ULTI
- PAX list sorting on iPad ranked PLF above ULTI, so they thought to do less for ULTI than PFL
- ULTI info was on the second tab in the iPad app, and they have not looked into that page
- in Europe: they thought ULTI is just for Interconti flights
- they say did not have time
- they thought this ony applies to Air France flights (when on KL)
- they though it only applies to KL flights (when on KLC)
- they were just ignorant and lazy and made you feel it
- they saw ULTI service as an 'option' for them to decide whether to do it or not
- and many more
In general, dutch labour force is not used to work 'by instruction', they have the feeling that they too need to decide and agree on what their work is. So, some just don't agree that ULTI should be treated differently, so they purposly just don't do any ULTI service. In dutch culture 'all are equal', so should be treated equally... which is a nice concept, but I wonder why I pay then more than others....
And in that sense of equality, KL has started to nealry take out the entire 'divider ' between C & Y class in their 737 - its just a little piece left, that does not at all allow for privacy etc anymore...
