Pleasantly surprised to find this in the middle of nowhere ..
We stayed overnight .
Although it was snowing , the first major snowfall for the season , we managed to walk around the vicinity & to an old church up some lane .
They have a little hut where they roast meats , had veal for main . Delicious !
Then it was really coming down overnight , but thankfully the park reopened in the morning . We left early after our hearty breakfast to secure a “ place “ ( as others & groups were doing the same , we found out when we waiting for the park to open ) . Good thing our friend was doing all the arrangements with a local guide .
It was truly a blessing to have
Hotel Degenija so near Plitvice Lakes National Park considering the changeable weather in mid December .
Did not have time to check out the hotel fully . The weather did not help . The breakfast room was in the same building as where our rooms were . The restaurant is a short walk away but seems longer as it was snowing rather heavily around dinner and after . Quite lovely except it necessitated layering up to get back to our accommodations .
Would be a good choice anyway especially spring to autumn too .
Hope this helps . First time in the area so was rather an adventure .
