Was pleasantly surprised how varied and how much Croatia had to offer . Happened to do a land trip in November / December ( CHRISTmas markets ) and a cruise barely half a year after that accorded return visits to a couple of the coastal towns .
One which stood out which we have not returned to was Opatija where we stayed at Amadria Park Hotel Milenij . Lovely views from the room as well as from other parts of the hotel and right on the on Lungo Mare promenade !
Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast spread and ambience of the restaurant . Be sure to look at the ceilings if you do stay .

We enjoyed an overnight stay at another hotel , not luxury but good meals / dinner , near Plitvice Lakes to expedite our visit . It was just as well as a sudden snowstorm during lunch closed the park & our afternoon sojourn there was cancelled . Thankfully , we managed to go the next morning . The park rangers had managed to clear the upper trails . Some of us could not resist making snow angels , after all how often does one get to at the oldest Croatian national park on the UNESCO World Heritage List 😊
