QueenOfCoach QofC, I’m 77 and renewed my CDL online a couple of months ago. CDMV changed the requirement for us olds.

MrQ's drivers license expires today, his birthday. He is now 71 and by California law he has to show up in person to renew. He got the renewal notice in February, but because he was "busy", he put off getting it renewed. "I'll go in sometime in April or May. There's plenty of time."
So, they closed DMV offices in mid-March as part of the pandemic shut down. They sent out 120-day extensions to everyone with expiration in March, April and May. What about June?
In late May they opened "select" DMV field offices, but only for those with appointments and guess what, there were no new appointments available. We did his application on line, uploaded all his Real ID material and got a receipt.
Last week I stopped by early in the morning after "Senior Shopping" hours at the grocery store. They told me they took walk-ins on a limited basis and only if everything was already done on line. Yay. I went home, grabbed MrQ and his paperwork, and took him in. He was in and out in a matter of 15 minutes, with his renewal receipt in hand. He got his new license in the mail yesterday.
I HATE cutting it that close!!!
Back in February when he first got the notice, we had no idea everything would shut down like this. I wish he would have gone in right away, but then I haven't stayed married for 44 years by nagging my husband.
