I was there is March 2020 when they announced the shutdown of KTM. The newspaper announced it was closing this evening and the airlines said we don't have this info and wouldn't change anything for free. The flights kept running. A few days later the President was on TV and said KTM was closing the next night. Our flights were the morning after the announced closure time. Our flight left as scheduled, normal flights continued for three days. Afterwards there were US charter flights every week or so until demand stopped. Try to make plans for yourself, but hope is not lost. Register with the embassy, they provide more reliable information than other outlets. Good luck.
