A second cruise ship has returned to Yokohama, forced to cut its scheduled itinerary short. The Nippon Maru was scheduled to circle Japan from April 29th through May 8th, making several stops along the way. However, after the discovery of a positive passenger on the Asuka II, the city of Yokohama became fearful of a Diamond Princess repeat, i.e., a boat full of infected passengers swamping its hospitals. So even though everyone on the boat tested negative before and during the voyage, on May 1st the city of Yokohama ordered requested that the ship return to port, which it finally did a couple hours ago.
I would think that this essentially re-shuts down the domestic cruise industry for the forseeable future.
