A call to Marriott via any of their customer numbers available at any status level would quickly answer your question: gift points or make an award stay. Unfortunately, the giftee won’t be able to leverage your elite status.

I was very familiar with getting the member support number when it was SPG.
But you do have amazing detective skills, along with outstanding "surmising" ability.
You are correct Sherlock, I am desperately trying to call Marriott Bonvoy to find out and get confirmation on how to scam their loyalty program.
