I preference this question by saying I have always been a strong advocate for being in Athens ( or its vicinity) on the night before your flight back to the States. But I have never been up against this scenario: where my flight on Qatar leaves at 1:30 AM.

Our itinerary as it stands ( and I have gone around and around with this) has us in Crete at the end of our trip. I played around with putting a few days in Athens which we normally would start a trip with at the the end....but it somehow doesn't quite work.

Would it be too risky to fly into ATH that late afternoon from Crete to catch our Qatar flight in the wee hours of the morning?
