This would trigger a transaction, stop his avios from expiring and could be cancelled at a later date?
What happens if your friend books a flight (any route) which has been cancelled every day since the pandemic started and books the earliest departure which hasn't been cancelled yet, then requests a refund a couple of weeks later when the flight eventually is cancelled?
