HND int'l airside is open 24/7 (though lounges and transit hotels close at night). i think there's a 72hr rule for HND, not 100% sure
Sorry, my reason for including the post was the agent statement that a valid onward ticket would be sufficient (I've edited my post/quote to emphasize that), not the 24-hour issue.
