Help! Once a flight is delayed, will they change planes to make it leave earlier?
Trying to make a quick decision for today.
I originally booked flight #5231, STL->ECP for 4251 points. Nonstop 6:25pm->8:10pm.
Plans changed, so I switched to flight #2254, STL->ECP for 15,179 points (9156 more). Nonstop 3:10pm-4:55pm.
Now, #2254 is delayed until at least 6:20pm. So, I basically just threw away those 9000 points.
I'm considering switching back to flight #5231 at 13,943 points (still WAY more than I originally booked, but less than my current flight). Seats are available and it appears to be on time as its coming from MCO, other is delayed in Dallas enroute to San Antonio.
BUT, here's my dilemma. The #5231 flight, originally scheduled to leave at 6:25pm, is supposed to get IN to STL from MCO at 4:25pm. Do you think they'll move the delayed flight to THAT plane, and leave, at say 5pm or so. And then put the original 6:25pm flight(#5231) on the delayed flights (#2254) plane, since it's scheduled to leave about the same time, but could also potentially be delayed then?
I'm not sure if that's a logistical possibility or not. I've been waiting to talk to someone for over 35 minutes.
If it is fairly certain that they WILL NOT switch planes, I'll switch flights back to the 6:25pm one.
