Honestly, I feel like ranting too, so I know where he’s coming from.
I for one want more benefits that very clearly enhance my BUSINESS- which gym memberships and fashion shopping do not (directly).
I have the same sentiments as a Platinum holder (and honestly it's a main reason I've started to seriously consider transitioning my U.S. Platinum to the ICC dollar version: less fluff and smoke & mirrors (forced credits), more pure travel benefits/statuses/access/insurances than the U.S. version.
But I think I've finally nailed the logic behind Equinox: stay or get in shape = live longer + pay more Amex annual fees
