Before the TT bubble 40% of MIQ was used by people from AU. But this 40% has not been fully released for others. And the new "96hrs to one MIQ facility" limits it is again
MIQ availability "on screen" is geo dependent. Someone in NZ will see different availability to that shown in USA and different to UK.

Lots of variables for sure. Have been using VPNs to monitor other availability as well but still crossing my fingers. I have a memory of TBIT a few years back around Christmas and there being multiple direct departures to Auckland. A stark contrast today!
Re AA miles on that QR flight, certainly not in Y. NZ5 has been consistently the most reliable flight/route to NZ for those in North America recently. Also not that keen on transiting in DOH.
CX Premium Economy is a great sweet spot but who knows when they will be flying to AKL again?
