Just stayed here for 2 nights as a globalist and we were upgraded from Vineyard Studio w/ Tub to Hilltop Ranch Suite w/ outdoor tub & had a great stay overall. The setting is beautiful, however they could probably trim some of the trees around the property as our view was somewhat obstructed by a large oak tree right in front of our balcony (see picture). It was a nicely appointed room with a huge bathroom and a nice den area when you walk in - the room was somewhat dark, which makes sense as the property mainly faces north.
We had a great dinner with incredible service at Valley Kitchen, and we enjoyed nightly drinks at the bar in the main lodge. The service was friendly casual, nothing over the top, but that is common in California. Not many families here, but we were here during the week, and I hear that weekends are very different w/ many families. We enjoyed the main pool, the tennis facilities down below, and finding cool spots across the property to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail. We didn't partake in any of their activities (I was there for work), but there are a plethora of things offered by the resort which is pretty cool.
I've stayed at Bernardus a few times in the past, which is definitely more adult oriented, but I really enjoyed this property overall, and it's great to have a Hyatt option in Carmel as Globalists. Breakfast was comped each morning, not sure how much they would comp, but they just said "breakfast is included and will be taken off the bill" - we spent ~$65 each morning and it was taken care of by the end of the stay. The resort fee was also waived without us having to inquire.
Lastly, the hotel is closer to Carmel than Bernardus, which is a plus, as Carmel is a wonderful little village that is super charming and cute. It does get busy though during the summer months, which ironically can be fogged in (but you probably don't need to worry about that in Carmel Valley as it's usually ~10 degrees warmer than Carmel-by-the-sea). Anyway, hope this helps people who are planning a trip there in the near future.
