Although there are some advantages to the status match, such as the higher earning rate in J and the instant *G status, if you have a longer term interest in remaining as a TK Elite, you have the option of:

1. Doing 1 TK flight within a specific period, 15k miles within another specific period, and then another 37.5k miles within yet another specific period
2. Doing 40k miles on any airline within any 12-month period

Option 2 is actually easier for many, especially those who can't make their first TK flight a short European or Turkish domestic flight (since those miles don't count for the 15k).
