Interesting. My nearest airport is a KLM Schengen feeder and we occasionally fly as a family from there, but never enough to amass enough points to get anything worthwhile. I fly from there a couple of times a year, so I keep my points active but can't spend them on anything yet.

Family pooling might be a bit handy. I'll never fly enough to amass loads of points, though. And I've moved my KLM earning opportunities to Virgin for the time being through a co-branded credit card.
