Your interpretation doesn't sound correct - each card that you'd apply for has its own specific bonus. Like for example you can't get an MR bonus on a Delta Amex. The referrer gets their specified bonus regardless of what you sign up for as long as you use their link. Like if a friend sends me their Delta referral link, they'll get Delta Skymiles even if I get an Amex MR card.
Thanks for the reply. I realize I didn't explain things very well. Here's the exact language generated by entering my wife's Amex (Personal) Gold info at the Amex Refer a Friend site (emphasis added):
You can earn:
30,000
for each approved referral – up to 55,000 Membership Rewards® points per calendar year.
Your friend can earn:
60,000
Membership Rewards® points after they use their new Card to make $4,000 in purchases within the first 6 months of Card Membership. Your friend will be able to choose from all available American Express personal and business Cards, including the Rose Gold Card. Since I'll probably apply for either an Amex Business Gold or Business Platinum with her referral, the Delta miles matter doesn't seem to enter the equation.
My basic questions remain:
1. Do I get the 60,000 MR points regardless of which qualifying MR point-generating card I'd get? Or...
2. Contrary to my interpretation, is the 60,000 MR points offer just confined to my getting an Amex (Personal) Gold card?
3. Are there any other considerations I should take into account, as I'm new to this part of the game?
