I was randomly checking my member reward summary and noticed that there was a charge to American Airline with a 1X point. I found it strange it posted as AA since I bought my ticket through Amex Travel to get the additional 4X MR's. I chatted with Amex and the rep said I would be credited. A week later I received a letter from Amex saying they had carefully reviewed my purchase and were denying the 4X points saying I had to buy through Amex Travel, which I had. I chatted again, the agent checked my account and asked if I had purchased through Expedia??? As the trips were showing up as both future and past trips on the AMEX Travel portal, I assured him I had not. He then checked the last 6 months of tickets and none had been credited the additional 4X, some 20K points. I went and checked my billing statements and the charges had posted there as Amex Travel as opposed to AA (and Delta) on the point's summary. All very odd. Now I'm awaiting the result of an investigation.
