It's not just a higher view. It's a whole host of things. Privacy. Quiet. Convenience and ease.
I like CO's product. But faced with connecting through IAH or EWR, I'll take AMS any day. Also, I find the KL seats very comfortable, and the CO seats less comfortable. Finally, I'll fly in a 747 over a 777, in essentially the same class, any day.
You may prefer CO. And that's fine. If CO had a NS LAX-AMS I might choose CO as well.
