I have been tracking a B717 and the 1CD are blocked while other other F seats show occuopied. Yet they are still offering first class for sale. I guessed that they were indeed holding these seat assignments back for assignment at the gate if any. Has anybody bought F where no seats are available for assignment and they only got a seat assignment at the gate in 1CD?
There are a few other narrowbody aircraft where they block FC seats for gate assignment/special needs. It's not unique to the 717s. They also block 1CD in FC on A320/B738/B739 aircraft. CR7/CR9/E170/E175/A220/A319/A321/B752/B753 aircraft do not have blocked FC seats. No, they do not hold back FC inventory just because these seats are blocked.
