3 Properties, FHR Vegas, Apr 6-13

This forum has been so amazing with helping my on my recent Vegas trip, I wanted to contribute my very interesting experience.
1. Cosmo
1. Apr 6-8 (Tue-Thur)
2. Booked: Terrace Suite
3. Price: $180/night ($510 total for 2 nights via FHR...did direct payment at hotel option)
4. Room Received: Terrace Suite
1. No upgrade: this was strange. I had sent AMEX a letter about a few things incl upgrade - im also Gold via Platinum Card like others
2. Check in:
1. 130 pm
2. Autograph Lounge
3. Experience: smooth but going back to upgrade -- first she goes "lets see what we have for you" then...she said something (i was exhausted from a very late work night day before) and thought i heard her say - "studio available with fountain view"...but she actually said "mountain". I was shocked - they were not only not upgrading - mid week - from terrace booked to terrace fountain, they wanted to downgrade me! I guffawed and showed discontent - said then ill take Terrace with strip/city view (not fountain, she wouldnt budge and im very aggressive) and said this would take 1-2 hours...but...magically was ready 5 min later as we ended check in....so thats that
4. Spa Credit
1. AMEX said they would send note but its up to front desk. First, I said bluntly - bc i checked as i wanted to do a spa thing to pamper myself - nope no big services only like the showers...she rejected, but this i wasnt going to let up on bc i read on here people had gotten it converted - after 10 min - she called and it was done (more on this later) that $100 as a courtesy would be given in lieu of Spa Credit
3. Terrace Suite
1. 1st time Cosmo and it seemed like it was on up and up...busy.
2. Room was nice with bath tub overlooking the mid strip (my view was side of Paris, Planet Hollywood)....but it was, like some tripadvisors complained...weirdly dark. Like the actual opening of window/terrace was ten feet and thats it and room is long. IT does close off living area, but it was dark in that area and i never spent much time there
4. Expenses/Credits
1. Technically, was to receive the following: $100 Spa conversion, $75x2 - $150 breakfast F&B...and i think a gold bonvoy thing of like $15 a day..i think
2. I spent $$ in in room dining, $200 @ Barber Shop (did package for it all (cut, beard, brows and facial) but man Reza is amazing and hands down top 3 haircuts ive ever had and a fun experience), $125 @ Jaleo (get reservations for everything right now bc in door dining still capped and was very very hard finding something), and some mini bar stuff
3. Check out
1. 4pm, Autograph
2. Same friendly attendant, Caroleena, but....heres the deal:
1. I was a bit tipsy (being honest) and headed to Encore and basically had packed earlier and hit up pool (why is there such a lack of shade - im indian - we hate sun and getting darker)
2. She gave me bill and it was $900 (this included credit for first night amex took)...i said this isnt right and she scanned and said they were going to take out additional monies for spa thing and all my credits
3. She used my AMEX BONVOY Biz car for charges and assured me my Gold number was on there
4. BIG MISTAKE
1. I repeat, check every folio...3/4 in this post were wrong between $100-300...they did not remove...ANY CREDITS except $20
2. After a massive back and forth via emails, bc they didnt tell me timing of breakfast (its offered 24/7 on in room dining), $100 spa -- they refused 2 times until i really got angry and thank god i knew her name ...they removed it ALL and then some.
3. Conclusion
1. cant go wrong with FHR, but seriously, be firm and have back up and reasoning why you get credits and dont dismiss or listen to them, check it on folio
2. Encore
1. 1 night Apr 8-9 (thur)
2. Booked: Panoramic Encore
3. Price: $229 = $287 total incl fees with AMEX FHR direct pay
4. Room Received: Encore Tower Suites (upgraded 1 step above)
1. Check in:
1. 4pm
2. PERFECT CHECK IN
1. Attendant laid out everything perfectly
1. upgraded room and tower suites has its own section
1. NOTE: Encore had literally opened that day to public. The Casino was EMPTY..which was pretty awesome bc a hop skip and you were in busy Wynn.
2. Tower Suites have their own entrance, elevators, checkin/out and taxi area...neat. tower suites pool was not open but they opened that beach club the friday i left
2. $100 Spa to become F&B, $25 FHR amenity credit for mini bar or drink at bars, $60 for in room dining or whatever for breakfast - they give u a specific time for breakfast 5am-11am..and it said on paper+ $5 wifi return
3. Total = $190
2. Room
1. what a perfectly laid out room with just everything as expected for this class but really, i loved it. amazing view of the strip from being on 53rd floor overlooking it from street side right down middle
2. lighting - perfect
3. service - perfect - best steak and eggs inroom dining ive ever had
4. Pool - was getting crowded but still, great service and just the class level was excellent.
5. This hotel cares about being 5 stars
3. Check out
1. 4pm
2. Didnt check folio but did go to tower front desk and she assured me all $190 was on there and on my way
3. Folio - yep, no issues
3. Conclusion
1. YASSSSSSS what a fantastically run hotel. Def, even with masks or whatever, you felt as close to real luxe Vegas experience as one can during that time
2. But wait...i did one more night here following week...would it repeat? read ahead
3. Waldorf Astoria
1. Apr 9-12 (Fri-Mon)
2. Booked: City View King
3. Price:
1. AMEX FHR had 3rd night free special
2. $216/3 nights = $870 for 3 nights incl taxes/fees
1. side note: HUGE mistake -- did amex direct and couldnt stack with amex $100 offer for waldorf i had signed up for bc i guess i needed to do other option...pay attn folks
4. Check in:
1. 430PM
2. Upgraded: Nope
3. Credits
1. $125 FHR amenity, $60/day ($180) Breakfast F&B, $50 HH Gold Benefit (1st she said $15/day but it showed as $50), $5/day wifi credit
2. Total Expected: $370/3 days
4. Room
1. I was shocked. Coming from Cosmo and Encore...this room seemed like I was transported to Plano, TX. While the other 2 had fully outfitted rooms, this room was bare. it was depressing. like the bones were interesting, but the bareness - color palette - and drabness just made it shockingly bad i immediately called and said i hated the room and its making me depressed - i stayed weekend to relax in room and at pool and take in nice weather before heading back to tx and also...i could tell its about to explode in vegas with mass corwds and i doubt id be back for a long time....and this room was terrible.
2. Like, it had a gorgeous tub, and still i hated it. what makes it worse....
3. LIMITED TIMES for AMENITIES
1. room service - only for breakfast or dinner ...once cut off at ten pm, donezo
2. ice - u must call for it and then...haha, they said on room svc menu if u order more than 1, theres a charge?!
3. no on site restaurant
4. pool had food/drinks fri-sat-sun
4. 3rd night - they moved me to junior suite/strip view -- bigger room slightly better view....meh, the bareness and just soul lessness made it very whatever ...oh well
5. Check out
1. they sent me folio the morning of
2. I had ordered a crazy amount of in room dining, pool lunch/drinks one day, cafe (not good) for a breakfast thing (they didnt specify times for breakfast)...but still i was solo, they had a fridge so i also got to save a wrap for later
3. Folio had $157 of $370 taken out
4. I sent text (they communicated via text) saying to correct and that due to limited resources and my heavy spending on in room to make sure all credits applied...they said "ok!" ...i took pic of phone and left next day
5. FOLIO - nope, they didnt remove anything. So, quick email to hilton and their front desk with the explanations and that pic and very quickly with no argument, new folio with all credits installed and me refunded
6. Conclusion
1. Pros: you do feel youre not in vegas while there, pool is serene and classy with nice views, not crowded when i was there, and then if u want to venture -- ur right there next to Aria smack in middle of strip
2. Cons: what a bare ... room, depressing, you wont feel special bc the room just sucks...a complete waste of space and nice bones...i think just needs a renovation and then outfitted which im sure is a matter of weeks at this point; folio u have to fight for, but hey they didnt argue
4. Encore
1. Apr 12-13 (mon-tue)
2. Booked: Encore resort King
3. Price: $159 ...$228 incl taxes and fees
4. Why: wanted to end my solo trip in my fave room/resort
5. Check in
1. 2pm
2. Upgraded: Yes, one level to Encore Strip view on 63rd floor -- whoa what a view!
3. professional and smooth as usual - weirdly she didnt have my other visit in system from week prior
4. Laid out same: $100 Spa (to be F&B), $25 amenity, $60 breakfast, $5 wifi
5. Room: i was 53 last time and a bit to right but this was even better imo, ive never been that elevated in Vegas and view was amazing.
6. Check out
1. 4pm
2. Was ready to head home, hung over and just went to airport for my 6pm flight
3. Folio - MASSIVE ERRORS/OVERAGES
1. Story - so a buddy from nyc happened to be there that day and he joined me at 5pm for a quick swim and catch up
2. We had drinks at lobby bar, other bar thats like a mini bar facing casino, dinner at Allegro (barely, we fenagled a bar seat) $150, and then we had some beers, and mini vodka bottles from mini bar, chips from there, and then where it went whonky was i ordered two of the midsize vodkas from in room dining and they brought mini bottles like mini bar ones and the bill was $160...clearly something was amiss so they came back and it was $80 and they removed the other bill...or so i thought, i also orderd a late night meal/breakfast for myself at 445am.
3. all together incl room, i was billed $800. so according to them, me and my buddy in less than 24 hours spent $575. no, i can assure u thats physically impossible. So after heavy back and forth and then my own examination, they double charged, didnt credit the $60 and after heavy, i mean, 10 emails, i got $260 refunded. Still, it didnt seem right but ...hey im ok with that.
4. Conclusion -- CHECK YOUR FOLIOS - never just think they will do it, even the method they choose (not showing the credits on bill) is terribly confusing and if u have a night, dont let them take advantage of ya. We did not have 35 drinks that night, prob less than 1/2
CONCLUSION:
Encore is amazing. 5 stars. As long as you are on top of your ...., its all good. Cosmo too...maybe cosmo better for groups and i will only make sure next time im guaranteed fountain view bc those look marvelous. Waldorf - eh....unless its points paid or they are back to being a resort, its too annoying. Sky bar is fun...for 1 hour.

I loved being able to be alone, splurge on great food, accommodations, services and feel like a king. Even with credits galore, Vegas aint cheap.
And always remember, if there are errors, they will - maybe with some firmness - work with you. Dont let them off hook. I overtipped all while i was there bc everyone WAS so friendly. So appreciative - the workers and cab drivers and bar tenders - that their livelihood is coming back after being halted for 1+ year. It felt good, being in food business myself, to support them esp.

Salut! Hope this helps and man, this is long AF oops
