You can buy them on the http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ website, and pick them up from ticket machines at the Gare du Nord. Alternatively, you could try http://www.wasteels.fr/ who certainly used to offer some decent discounts.

As a general note on this thread, you won't have a problem throwing away half your ticket. But do note that this can be dangerous on some forms of transport. Cross-channel ferries, for example, finally cottonned on to the fact that people were buying day-trips, and only going one way, as this offered you a very substantial discount. They now warn you (and they do have to warn you) up front that, if you don't make the return, the credit card used for the booking (cash not accepted) will be charged for the full fare single.
