My Marquis stays were last year. Not a property I'd like to return to, due to location as well. Are you not able to cancel your booking/rate or modify it to be shorter? You could always ask/push for the upgrade at check in or see if there's a reasonable fee for the suite upgrade I think.

Thank you for all the responses! I have 2 consecutive reservations at the Marquis so I will change my plans after the first reservation if we don’t get the upgrade. I am also considering the JW, the W, and the SGS!

Also, I prefer the Marquis location but I guess it’s preference.

The nearby Japanese shops are really cool and EmQuartier’s helix dining is awesome too.
