JW will upgrade if available, but as Kraafish mentioned they have a lot of long stay guests and limited suites. The rates are 65-80k/month depending on the sales agent with a host of F&B perks. Similar pricing at the W for a suite (2400 a day net).
Hotels I've found that are upgrade friendly so far myself have been: JW Marirott, Westin, ROS, The W. I have not stayed at the St Regis but my friend who did got a multi level suite upgrade. I think Sheraton Sukhumvit would but they are so heavily sold out and limited availability.
Outside of Bangkok in Phuket almost all properties are doing very generous upgrades. I haven't travelled to Samui during the pandemic so cannot comment on that.
Yes I paid around there to stayed at JW for 2 months, and when I try to extend further they said they were fully booked on some dates. Right now Marquis has 90,000/month for M suite and you get 15,000 THB for hotel credit that can be accumulated
