You can select seats via the Manage Flight Booking page from the front of the JAL US page. Try logging out and then click the Manage Flight Booking button just down from the top. Enter the flight details and your passenger details, remember to use the boarding date, not the arrival date and that sometimes you need to use FIRSTMIDDLE name instead of just FIRST when searching.
Just confirmed that this works with our AA awards in January. Also confirmed that it does NOT work when logged in to my JMB account.
