Pre-pandemic I found the GGUs really useful and had hoped once seat blocking in F went away that U space would open back up, but unfortunately they are still mostly useless unless you want to upgrade SEA-LAX type flights.
I’ve had good success utilizing them on Hawaii flights if I’m flexible on dates. I can’t speak to many other routes. Though, I agree it is more difficult than pre pandemic!
