The reason Maglev is exactly 30km, and ends in the middle of nowhere is because 30 km was the minimum length needed to evaluate the technology. There were plans to extend it, but we all know that isn't happening. HSR to PVG might be in the cards.

-Hangzhou extensions were approved in 2006 and 2010
-they were both shot down due to "radiation" concerns
-IMO, Maglev should be replaced by HSR, and simply connect PVG with SHA (several stops in town, as well)
