I was able to do this today.

Original itinerary was HYD-DXB-SEA (EK J) // SEA-DAL (AS F)

​​​​​I flew the first two segments last month. I just called and changed the last segment to a few weeks further out. Saver space was available to make the change on the AS segment. No additional miles charged.
