Agree on the at home tests. Of all countries, the US seems to be one that accepts most types of tests at the moment. Taking a test with you for the return home seems like a great idea.
Covid testing IN the US for other countries is a whole different story. Availability and cost are all over the board around the country. In our area, CVS doesn't even do the tests. On the other hand, our state mandates all testing done in state is free (except one rapid PCR test which one grocery store pharmacy is doing). Because of relatively low testing rates compared to capacity, the turnaround time is down to hours even on the regular PCR test.
Next state over, testing is expensive and results slow to return. We have people crossing the border for tests here
