Each time you have to fuss around with two passports and the booklet.
Leaving the BoI officer decided to take a good look at my old passport (since there was no one else to check) and looked at all the pages. He was very curious that I had been to China so often ... all questions were posed in Hindi which I tried my best to respond to in my garbled Tom Alter hindi...

Had never had this happen while traveling with the renewed passport and original OCI, in the past. Last month however, first, the Air Canada agent at EWR wanted to see where it said "Lifetime" on my OCI. I realized that it used to be on the accompanying stamp in the old passport that I had when the OCI was issued. He had to check with a superior before checking me in. Later at YYZ, while boarding the flight to DEL, the gate agent wanted to see my old passport with the number associated on my OCI card! He eventually let me pass, "this one time!" with a serious reprimand and with the warning that India might send me back the following day. Of course, that did not happen.
Thought it might be an agent who wasn't familiar with the rules, but looks like things may have changed since I last traveled here two years ago. Departing on Friday, lets see how that goes.
