It's just that the enthusiasm with which they push the practically worthless coupon codes is kind of amusing.
I'm up over 11,000 miles halfway into this contest (plus some discount codes I probably won't use). I've already gotten the max of 2 X 4000, so I'm hoping just to get as many 400 mile wins in the second half as possible. Either way, I'm happy. And they seem to be giving away more miles in aggregate via the 4000/400/40 wins than by the actual grand prizes of 40 1M miles. Like I said, I'll hold my criticism until I see what UA and DL do for their 40th FF anniversary.
I also take it as a major diss to the midwest that every losing spin lands with the central US front-and-center on the globe. Apparently AA's Fort Worth TX headquarters counts as "Charting Off-Course".
It's funny that you bring that up because all of my wins have only been from around 7 or 8 of the same cities around the globe. And the only U.S. cities I've landed on are NYC, Miami, and Seattle.
