This can be VERY frustrating. The other day I paid over $650 for a coach in Q and didn't get the BA miles. After about 3 months of calls and struggle I was able to get them transferred over to my AA account.

Every advance economy on the WEB is almost always L class these days (for AA) and it's hard to avoid it.
One would suppose that since AA and BA are members of the same alliance it is possible to earn miles on both on all "published" "eligible" fares.

Anyway, I spoke with several BA reps. One seemed to be somehow more knowledgeable than the rest and this is was she told me:

Booking classes that DO NOT earn BA miles on AA:
O,R,L,Q,S,E

classes that DO earn BA miles on AA:
A,C,F,H,J,K,M,N,V,Y
