Should that decision be left to residents, or “experts”? There seems to be an element of “we know what is good for you” here.

There’s some bars to implementing utilitarianism in our present political system - eg lack of assurance contracts mechanism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assurance_contract

We were supposed to have returned in March 2020, remember (according to the keep borders closed crowd)?

Wait until they can shift to a blacklist system eg unvaccinated Africa and then continually impose a floating level of landing quota eg Sydney gets 1,000 arrival slots a day.

You got to remember, there are a lot of unvaccinated Australian residents who are “content”. My brother hardly leaves the house, except to his beloved cha chaan ting and his office so unless they’re imposing SAHs he’s content. He and my SIL doesn’t really relish our mother visiting, he doesn’t get to smoke and my SIL has her kitchen taken over and she has to act as the maid (this was fully debriefed to my wife before our wedding day, serendipitously as this briefing only happened because we were stranded in Sydney that day). My nephew is apparently partying with 200 other brats every Sat night, I’m not sure what the applicable social distancing measures are. He also gets to travel to Townsville, which is more travelling than I get to do.
