I'm going to fill you in on a little secret. If you don't happen to be living in Australia currently, that doesn't make you any less Australian than people living in the country. It doesn't mean you don't have family or close friends that you want to see in Australia.

We already missed out on one funeral (my maternal aunt), my cousin then had to get married here without his remaining immediate family, my mother is still desperately hoping she sees my nephew’s graduation before she kicks the bucket.
But even without our Australian family links, we have very much the same problem getting back into Hong Kong, too.
