Probably not for AA (but check in the AA forum), maybe for UA.
For UA, I recommend that you first look through the UA forum to see whether or not they allow the addition of a UAMP number to be added to an award ticket issued through other carriers. If so, you will get your UA benefits when flying on that award ticket.
AA cracked down a few years ago; they have a policy of not allowing award tickets booked on AA metal through other airline award programs to change the award to include an AAdvantage number (which is how you could then get your AA status benefits like free checked bags etc.). [As an aside, AA has allowed me to change an award ticket on AA metal booked with AA miles to my BA account, getting me my BA status benefits recognized.]
