Azalea Business Lounge - Nagasaki, Japan

This lounge is not a part of any airline alliance or Priority Pass network. To enter, you need to show an airplane ticket for departure the same day and one of the many listed eligible credit cards. I don't have a copy of the list but numerous cards including certain Visa co-branded cards, JCB cards, etc. Although entry is mostly limited to Japan-issued credit cards, I believe some foreign credit cards are also eligible. In my case, I have a Visa-ANA co-branded credit card issued in Japan that gives me entry. I don't remember for certain, but I think you can also enter by paying a fee if you don't have an eligible credit card.

View from the lounge

Nagasaki Airport is built on an artificial island (like the Kansai Airport that services the Osaka area) in Omura Bay and is rather far from Nagasaki City, which requires about a one-hour bus ride to reach.

The lounge offers a wide assortment of non-alcoholic drinks for free but there is virtually no free food available other than small packs of rice crackers, IIRC. Alcoholic drinks and some food items are available for a fee (beer is 600 yen). Although a Starbucks is located just around the corner from the lounge entrance, you are not allowed to bring food in from the outside and eat it in the lounge. I did this once and was told not to.

Some of the seats along the window above have vibrating foot massagers on the floor that you can use for free by turning on a switch. There's also a rack that includes reading material such as newspapers and magazines and I think one or two of them might also be in English, but who reads paper-printed media anymore?

Drink counter

The drink dispenser includes cold teas, soft drinks, and carbonated water. There's also a coffee dispenser and a fridge with tomato juice and cold green tea, as well as a hot water dispenser for assorted teas available in tea bags on the counter.

Overall, it's a quiet and comfortable lounge with a couple of TV screens and 2 or 3 LCD screens with plane arrival/departure times and other flight and boarding information, and a pleasant space to spend time in before catching a flight. Its hours of operation are from 8:30 am to 8:40 pm.
