I tried using bookwithmatrix.com for the result I found on ITA Matrix but it's only giving me the option to book via onetravel.com, which I'd prefer not to do.
Honestly, calling them is really the best way to do it. Same for AS, btw, in case anyone here is booking more tickets with them lately (and fare class tends to matter way more at AS than with AA for various reasons, particularly upgrades and EQMs).

Try the Twitter team. Either ask them to make the new booking outright, or hold an itinerary on AA.com and ask them to upfare to the appropriate booking class. I usually do the latter.
Tweeting AA is great for a lot of things, but I wasn't aware they could accept payment for new reservations... I recall a thread here where they were able to apply a SWU but not do a miles/copay upgrade, for example. Have they been able to make new reservations for you?
