I have a similar question and would like to know if this is possible before I call and wait:

Originally booked SEA - DOH - ISB roundtrip. 24 hour change (qatar reduced frequency on sea-doh route). Can I now ask them to change this ticket to SEA - DOH - ISB outbound on a different preferred date // LHE - DOH - SEA inbound on original isb-doh-sea date? Both isb/lhe are within 500 miles and in the same country, and same R-class exists. I will call and ask either way, just want to know if I'm within my rights to ask this or will I have to be more convincing/huca many times till some agent agrees.
