Sorry to hijack this thread but wanted to check my understanding..
Nov 2019: I and OH triggered a companion voucher each
Dec 2019: Used both for 4 seats to NYC in April 2020
Apr 2020: Covid cancellation but was able to re-book for August 2020
Aug 2020: Covid cancellation but helpful agent was able to immediately issue FTV and re-book all 4 to BOS in May 2021 but advised booking would fall under Avios rules (i.e. £35pp cancellation fee applies; no FTV)
March 2021: Covid cancellation so all Avios re-deposited and both companion vouchers added back into respective accounts.
However, the companion vouchers will expire in November 2021 (generously will have been valid 3 years by then) but as we aim to book for 2022, can I safely assume these vouchers won't extend further?
I have another voucher valid until June 2023 and my anniversary year starts late August so possible will have bagged another voucher by Oct/Nov but knowing how hard it is (and how lucky we were) to get 4 First award seats on the same flight, not sure if I'll be quite so lucky next time around if booking +/-6 months out?
Given the current restrictions etc., I'm just relieved that BA have been so accommodating and if they don't extend past November, will try to use them this year on a couple of short-hauls if travel opens up. However, if there was a chance they'd extend them I'd prefer to use them for the original trip.
Any best guesstimates?
