I like the way rental car companies keep charging for the same damage and never fixing it. The strategy is probably to collect enough payments on the same pre-existing damage to pay for a new car lease.
I had a pre-existing rock chip last year that I didn’t notice until about 25 miles down the road at the drive-thru. I know it was pre-existing because you could see traces of the white chalk pen someone used to circle it prior. Guess Hz didn’t feel like fixing it.
Good thing I had a picture of the car while it was still in the Hz stall. Believe it or not, you could see a small white/gray spot in the picture right where the chip was.
I tried to call the Hz airport location numerous times but no one ever answered the phone.
Upon return, I told the Hz guy about the pre-existing chip and showed him the white circle. He proceeded to circle it again.
I filled out the incident report and wrote about the chip being circled prior and my picture of the car in the Hz stall. I heard nothing since. This was back in December of last year. Guess I’m not out of the woods yet.
