Here at FT, almost no one uses AmEx Platinum card to swipe in grocery stores, or department stores. We use Platinum exclusively for air tickets. "Swipe fee" is a generic terms for "credit card spending". AmEx earns "swipe fee" on all purchases, air tickets included.
We are freaks of nature here at FlyerTalk. Almost nothing is typical of us. We're all lucky that we found a safe place to geek out on travel, points, miles, and gaming the system.
