That doesn't sound like good time to me. That sounds like they actually lost time in the air, since the original arrival time (a) would already have been padded and (b) would have included the taxi time to the gate.
Not to pile on, but the connection was actually 1 hour 12 minutes and the delay was 1 hour 23 minutes. (1 minute was made up in the air)

It’s a quibble over minutes but that’s meaningful. If the delay had actually been in the ~60-70 minute timeframe it’s quite possible Connection Saver would have spit out a different solution.

I highly suspect the crew was flying the final leg of a multi flight routing (as the plane overnighted in DSM) and was in danger of time out if delayed, which would have inconvenienced/displaced the 100 people on board, the crew flying it, the crew flying the next morning’s flight, and all passengers on that flight... and so on.
