I do not fly any of the airlines that they have as travel partners. And it seemed like 25,000 points = $250. maybe transfering to an airline partner they would be $.014 per point or $350 total? But if I buy that $350 on my Chase Freedom Unlimited I can get 7.5 cents per dollars off the transaction ($26.25) plus I would earn mileage on the flight and I would be flying on a career where I have status and benefits instead of being at the bottom of the line if something goes wrong. I imagine that JetBlue would take care of a person on an awards flight with no membership status last after all the other folks. So maybe it is better than 1 cent on another airline if I transfer the points, but these other factors mitigate that quite a bit.

To be clear I am asking this because I do not know. I have only ever redeemed TYP for AA flights up until this change.
your response is super interesting. i thought you were joking given that youre a marriott LTT and have spent over $1M+ on flights. but after looking over your response, its clear that you play the game differently and have different priorities. i understand now. but without knowing more about your travel behaviors and your goals, it would be a waste of time to start unloading details about how to use TYP effectively.

but here are a few things to consider:
1) TPG - The Points Guy - a blog you should never read unless you know how to aggressively and professionally filter terrible content

2) MR - AMEX Membership Rewards - you should look into getting the Charles Schwab Amex Plat. lets you cashout at 1.25 cpp.

3) you are free to value TYP however you wish, but lets see how transfer partners could work for you. even though you dont fly w/ any citi airline partners, your suggested valuations tell me some examples may be helpful.
