It's pretty good buffet food. Certainly better than most lounge food. HKG Centurion served mussels for dinner pre-COVID. I was last there in February 2020. I did what Homer Simpson did and stuffed myself with mussels. Fortunately, staff had no problem replenishing the food and not dragged me out of the lounge...
Agreed - HKG has had my favorite F&B of any Cent. Maybe I just went at the right time!

I have a feeling Amex will dish out guest passes as part of this new plan. Maybe a small number (2-4) per year to all Plat holders, and then more as part of promotions or rewards for reaching certain spending levels. Guest access might end up like baggage and seat selection fees -- take something that was once free and make it a loyalty perk. I would think the portion of Plat holders who hit the $75k spend target will be relatively small.
I think this is
really likely. You could almost think of this as a sales strategy for new cards if limited passes were given out and used on coworkers or business partners. I'd actually imagine that the portion who hit $75k are much larger than expected - there's a
ton of non-FT folks out there who don't seek to optimize their spend across cards.
