I think you should be able to. After the May schedule changes were updated, I changed my MCO-AUS connection from IAH to DEN at no extra cost even though the MCO-DEN-AUS route cost much more. Ironically, I ended up changing it back to connecting in IAH later after my returning flight was changed. Still haven’t paid a cent over initial booking price.
