Stopped in last week, "oh, we were having phone trouble for a few weeks" was the excuse. Seemed sorry but not to the point of making any offer to win our stay back. Told them we had already canceled current 3 week and 2 week stays, and assuming nothing goes wrong at the FI, we'll probably be staying there in the future. They did offer the private business email address of the manager (who is rarely onsite) that we already had (but hadn't used). I don't see the point in contacting him. At least at FI we get 2 bottles water/day and options from their grab and go b'fast that at least are pretty healthy. The CY isn't offering anything but the "opportunity" to buy water at the tiny shop.
It's probably worth noting the fact that the person/people you spoke with might not actually care whether you return. Certainly, there are lots of wonderful employees working at select and limited service hotels like Courtyard by Marriott. But, there also will be employee who are only there for a paycheck. Those types of employee aren't going to take the time to rely the reason why you're not returning up the chain of command.
If you want your cancelations to have any real impact on this hotel, you'll probably need to bypass the front-line employees and engage directly with management.
