Hi,
I'm a long-time Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR) user but a snail mailing for Delta Skymiles caught my attention so I'm considering the Gold (or maybe Platinum) Delta Skymiles AMEX Card. I have a few questions:
- I assume the free checked bag is valid for European flights also to locations like Italy or The Netherlands? If I travel with a party of 5 on one reservation the bags are free?
- I already have a domestic Delta reservation (booked using CSR points), and it has my Skymiles number linked. Even though this is already booked and 'paid' (using CSR points) will I STILL get the free checked bags for my entire party if I apply for the AMEX Card now?
- I read that you do NOT need to use the AMEX Card to get the free bags, is that correct? (that ties into the question above).
Thanks!
1. All flights to Europe gets a free bag (unless you're on BE) for everyone, doesn't matter if you have a card or not.
2. As long as you put your Delta Amex into your profile before you check in, you should be fine.
3. That is correct. You do NOT need to book the flight using the Amex to get a free bag. As long as the card is listed in your profile you're good.
