Hi enviroian.

Get the BA PNR from HP, then go to ba.com. Top right corner has a red box marked "Manage My Booking", requiring input of surname and PNR. Once through that, you can change seat, order special meals, etc. Many also report that it's possible to sign up for BA EC even on a flight which is strictly ineligible (e.g. award) and that will permit you to check-in online 24hrs in advance and possibly further improve your seating.

You will not be able to change your seat by 'phoning 24hrs ahead because: a) seating control goes to airport before then; and b) the advance allocation is likely to have gone well before that anyway.

Flight arrives LGW North. HP should indeed interline all bags through.

Enjoy!

I assume I will not be able to utilize online checking as I have baggage to check at Phoenix at the HP counter. I also assume they will properly interline my baggage all the way to Gatwick.

The one poster mentioned manage my booking. How would I access this? I'm not sure I would even be able to using the PNR I have, as it may be HP generated and not BA.

Worst comes to worse I could call BA -23hr59min and ask about seat availability then.

One poster mentioned good luck trying to ask someone to switch an aisle in the two block to a four block and I agree--but what about the pax sitting in the seat next to the aisle in the four block? I would at least think they would be more incenticized to switch to 1. an aisle 2. a two block.

Oh by the way, does this flight arrive into N or S terminal at LGW?

Thanks!
