34. (1966) An Indian restaurant chain in France is looking to improve the quality of its spices by setting up a direct account with one of India’s most reputable suppliers. You’ve been tasked with flying out to Bombay and negotiating a deal. As an airline fan, you’ve always liked the look and speed of the Convair 990 and now you’ve found an opportunity to fly aboard a pair of them all the way from Paris to Bombay. First you’ll fly nonstop to the connecting point. Following an hour and a half connection, you’ll continue on the same airline aboard a two-stop flight to Bombay. So then, identify the airline and the routing inclusive of all stops.
I think this has to be Swissair, can't see it being anyone else on a Convair. Two stops on the main leg would be a bit thin for them, and at the time, although the flights originated in Zurich, many then hopped to Geneva as well. The intermediate stops have to be a complete guess, probably different for every eastbound flight of a week. They were always quite strong at Karachi as well I recall. Halfway between Geneva and Karachi ? Cairo ? So I'll go with Swissair Paris to Geneva, then Zurich-Geneva-Cairo-Karachi-Bombay, and probably on to the Far East.

A few years ago there was a movie "The Hundred Foot Journey" about an Indian restaurant opening up in, of all places, France, directly opposite a grand Michelin-starred place. Sort-of a comedy. Anyone else see it ?

This innocent little hunt, nine in total, was planted by myself all around the property after midnight. It was well received - I was of course told the clues were too easy. The one in our ivy bush had been there through the night, no rain expected, and was duly located with the normal "Found It" shout and borne back into the house to show Mama. They both peer closely as it's opened. Suddenly a huge shriek, it was thrown up almost to the ceiling. "There's a SLUG in it". Paternal investigation finds it's just a woodlouse, but has nevertheless been somehow attracted by the smell of chocolate wafting from inside during the night, and has actually managed to penetrate it. Guess who had to clean it up, chocolate directly to the rubbish, woodlouse returned to the garden ...
