I encounter this situation regularly, since both my wife and I earn free night certs every year, and we like to stay 5 nights at our favorite Hilton properties. Unfortunately, there really is no way to combine the points savings of a 5 night point reservation with the use of free night certs. The free night cert stays always need to be on their own reservation as well.
